Cheltenham Hills

It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to run in Cheltenham. With friends there, we make the trip several times a year (pre-COVID) and I just love to get out into the Cotswolds early in the morning and take in the local beauty.

The trails are a great mix of fields, forests and meadows with loads of variety – what better way to start the day than with a jaunt in the hills.

We’ve had a patchy start to the Summer this year compared with the relentless sunny period in 2020 and the weather was rather set-in this morning with the possibility of light rain along the way. No matter, to quote Billy Connelly – “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only incorrect clothing”. It was actually pleasantly cool the the trails are very accessible from town.

I took a looping roughly 12mile route to the South which, as always, I simply map out using the OS maps app (can’t recommend this app highly enough if you ever run trails) – just follow the green dotted/dashed lines. The public rights of way are incredible and ever present – no excuse not to head out!

The theme today was green. Wall to wall green 🙂
